This province in the northeastern part of Korea is well-known as a resort and travel destination thanks to its
scenicmountainous terrain and four-season climate marked by splendid autumn foliage and significant
snowfall in winter.

Gangwon Province succeeded in hosting the first international tourism symposium ever to be initiated by
a Korean regional government. To support this, CJSW recruited governors, tourism directors, scholars
and journalists from the 10 Asian nations and provinces belonging to the East Asian Inter-Regional Forum
(EATOF) to attend a meeting in Gangwon Province aimed at expanding tourism, sports and cultural
cooperation among member countries and regions.

CJSW conducted international lobbying on behalf of Gangwon Province for two international sporting events:
the 2008 World Snowboard Championship, and the 2009 Biathlon World Championship. Thanks in part to
an effective lobbying campaign, Gangwon Province succeeded at winning its bids for both events.
